Mikayla Talbot

SCHOOL: Saint Andre Bessette

Mikayla has won the Female Athlete of the Year Award each year of her secondary school career at St. Andre Bessette. Twice as Junior Female Athlete in grade 9 and again in grade 10, and last year in her grade 11 year she won Senior Female Athlete of the year.

Mikayla was starter on the Junior and Senior Basketball teams each year, and captain of this year’s team. Mikayla has won the MVP award for basketball each year and played in this year’s TVRAA All Star Basketball game. During Badminton season, Mikayla made it to WOSSA 2 out of 3 years that she played Doubles and Singles and won the MVP for this sport as well. Mikayla has been a leading member of the Varsity Girls soccer team since grade 9 and last year Mikayla helped lead the SAB Soccer team to an OFSAA bronze medal. Mikayla was also an integral team member of the Junior and Senior Volleyball teams while at SAB.

Mikayla maintains an 88%+ average in academic and university level courses and has accepted a scholarship to Tiffin University in Ohio for Sept. 2020, where she will play on their NCAA women’s soccer team. Her area of study at university will be Business.

Mikayla plays soccer on the London Football Academy/Norwest U21 Women’s competitive team. This team plays at the highest level of women’s soccer in Ontario. They won the Indoor Ontario Cup Championship in 2019 and came in 2 nd in their Provincial Elite League this past summer, under the leadership of Coach John Fleming. This team has competed at top level showcase tournaments in Toronto, Ohio, Buffalo, North Carolina and California over the past year.

Mikayla is very active in the school community as a member of the SHSM Sports & Leadership program, as well as a member of the Best Buddies Club, working with students with special needs on a regular basis. In addition, Mikayla shares her passion for soccer by coaching young players, ages 6-8 on Saturday afternoons for the BMO Indoor Soccer Development program. In the summers Mikayla has volunteered as a junior coach for the London Football Academy Summer soccer camps.

Mikayla is also a registered recruit (Ordinary Seaman Level) in the Royal Canadian Navy and attends sessions at the London Prevost several nights per month.
