Lily Spoozak

SCHOOL: Catholic Central High School

Lil Spoozak is a grade 12 student at Catholic Central High School.

She has been highly involved with athletics at CCH, playing 4 sports at a competetive level each year:

1. Track and Field

  • WOSSAA Gold Medalist in Shot Put (11)
  • WOSSAA Silver Medalist in Discus (11) and Shot Put (9, 10)
  • WOSSAA Bronze Medals in Discus (10)
  • TVRA Champion in Shot Put (10, 11) and Discus (11)
  • 9th Place at OFSAA
  • Track and Field MVP (9, 10, 11)

2. Badminton

  • WOSSAA Gold Medalist (10)
  • WOSSAA Bronze Medalist (11)
  • Qualification to OFSAA
  • Female Junior Badminton MVP (10)

3. Volleyball

  • WOSSAA Silver Medalist (9, 10, 11)
  • Jr. Team Captain (10) and Sr. Team Captain (12)

4. Cross-Country

  • WOSSAA 2nd Place Team (11) and 3rd Place Team (10)

She has also played on competitively on various teams in her community:

London Western Track and Field:

  • Athletics Ontario U18 Provincial Bronze Medalist in Shot Put
  • 8th Place at Legion Youth Nationals in Discus
  • 1st Place at District A in Discus, 2nd in Shot Put, selected to District A team to compete at Legion Youth Provincials
  • Finished 2019 Outdoor Season ranked 10th in Canada

Forest City Volleyball Club:

  • 4th place at OVA u16 provincial’s division 2
  • Team caption (2017-2018 season)

Victoria Carter London Dance Ensemble

  • Level 8 Society of Russian Ballet

Lily is a high caliber student, with a current overall average of 98.5%. She has finished with the top average in her grade each year, earning the Honour Society Gold Medal (9, 11), and Silver Medal (10). She has won the following subject awards over the last 3 years throughout grades 9, 10, and 11:

  • Grade 9 Courses: IB Math, IB English, Geography, Religion, and Gym
  • Grade 10 Courses: IB Math, IB Science
  • Grade 11 Courses: IB Functions, IB French, Biology, World Religions, Chemistry, and Band
  • Grade 12 Courses: IB Advanced Functions, IB French, and Physics

She is also part of the International Baccalaureate Programme, and has received the Canadian Intermediate Mathematics Certificate of Distinction.

In addition, Lily has a strong focus on community involvement, and has volunteered in the following roles:

  • Weekly Reader and Study Assistant to a blind woman studying to be a massage therapist in college
  • Research assistant to a Medical Resident at St. Joseph’s Family Medical Centre
  • Teaching STEM to young Girl Guides of Canada
  • Minor Track and Field Official
  • Score keeper for CCH boy’s volleyball and girl’s basketball teams
  • Women Run London and The Colour Run marshals
  • Organizing food bank for school
  • Volunteer for the Children’s Museum of London
